Elkfest 2015 in Jackson Hole
Elkfest 2015 is fast approaching in Jackson Hole. This highly anticipated event will be the 48th annual BSA Annual Elk Antler Auction – held this year on May 16th & 17th. With a fast-growing audience, Elkfest offers the largest collection of antler on sale anywhere at a single location.
At the 2014 event, a record amount of money was raised. Seventy five percent of proceeds from Elkfest are used to support habitat enhancement and interpretive programs at the National Elk Refuge.
An amazing selection of antler will be on display at Elkfest 2015. Between 6,000 and 9,000 pounds of antler are presented by the Jackson District Boy Scouts. Plenty of antler will also be available at the Jackson Hole Rotary Club Private Antler Sale, which has been held in conjunction with the auction for over 20 years.
The last of the four arches on the Jackson Hole town square will also be up for auction. This is the iconic antler arch on the northwest corner, which will be sold to the highest bidder at the BSA Elk Antler Auction.
This fun-filled event includes:
- The World Famous Jackson Hole Boy Scout Elk Antler Auction
- The Rotary Club Private Antler Sale
- A Food Court with breakfast and lunch
- The Jackson Hole Community Band Concert
- The Jackson Hole Historical Society and Museum Booth
- A Kids Corner
- The Wyoming Game and Fish Department displays
- Information about the National Elk Refuge
For those regulars who are returning to the event, you may remember an amazing pair of huge antlers that were shed and picked up on the refuge in 2013. These antlers were such a hit that they will return from their tour with the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Great Elk Tour and will be on display at Elkfest 2015.
